How To: Love

1. In order to love another human being, you have to love yourself first. Otherwise, you will end up loosing yourself, loosing all self-importance and all self-respect for the sake of that person.

2. Forget the list. You cant write a list of qualities you want in a friend, relative or lover. You have to forget about the characteristics you want to find in someone and just let the other person surprise you. You have to step out of the box and take people as they are because they are far more beautiful as themselves rather than just molded versions who attempt to meet your preferences.

3. They say its love at first sight not love at first personality but it isnt a persons physical features that will cheer you up when you are down. It isnt a persons beautiful face that will guide you through when you feel like youre breaking apart. A persons personality lasts forever, their physical appearance doesnt. The most effective way to allocate your love is to choose personality over appearances, any day.

4. Allow yourself to be an open book. When you love someone and if they love you back, you should let them see all the wounds and scars you carry. Let them see all that hide. The tricky thing about being in love is that you give someone the power to hurt you but you trust them enough to expect them not to hurt you.

5. You cant force love. You have to give it time, you cant tie someone up to a chair and demand them to love you. You have to give their feelings time to grow and you need to give them time to trust you. The best way to love someone and let them love you is to take it slow with your feelings because if you rush it, you will only end up creating false feelings.

6. Focus on the positives. Forget their flaws. If you really want to love someone, just focus on all the good that is inside them.

7. Change your perspective. Even if there are negative qualities in that person, try to see their qualities in a new, different way. Embrace them the way they are, the good and the bad.

8. Communicate. If you sense that something is wrong or you feel uncomfortable, do not hesitate to discuss it with the other person.

9. Forgive. Never let your ego or pride be more important than the person. If you are wronged, forgive them and if you are wrong, ask for forgiveness.

10. Be a good friend. No matter what relationship, whether a friend, brother or girlfriend, you need to be friends with each other.

11. Cure your insecurity. One of the major problems is insecurity or feeling like you are not good enough, change that. Talk through whatever it is that makes you feel jealous or insecure and try to work on it.

12. Be selfish sometimes. If you are not happy then how can you expect to make someone else happy?

13. Dont hide your love. If you love someone then tell them, tell them every day, tell them whenever you get a chance. Make sure that the person knows they are loved.

14. Prove it. Prove your love, it isnt enough to just say it. You have to show it. It can be little acts to show the person that they are on your mind or that you care about them. It could be remembering tiny facts or details about them that they probably thought you had forgotten or it could be a random act like giving the person a small gift like a single, red flower.

15. Care about them. Not in words but in actions. If you care about someone then make sure you are there for them when they need you. You cant love someone if you dont care about them.

16. Make sure to let them know that they are never alone and no matter what, you will always be there for them.

17. Have you ever heard that when you love someone, all that matters is their happiness even if that means they are happy without you? Its true.

18. Believe in them, let them know that there is at least one person in the world who has blind faith in them and would support them no matter what venture they opted for.

19. Be loyal to them.

20. Make them feel special.

21. Be true to your feelings.

22. Dont give up. No matter what happens, do not give up on them. Be patient with them.
