Consequences

We make mistakes and we often force ourselves to believe that we deserve to suffer in silence, alone. We writhe in self inflicted pain thinking we deserve it and we wallow in despair without letting anyone else in on the secret. Then one day, despite our best attempts someone discovers what we thought  we buried long ago and everything comes tumbling out.

In battle, when a soldier is faced with a threat the first instinct seems to be to call for back up but when you've kept your secrets hidden inside of you, who can you call?

Can you imagine being tortured by someone who insists on playing you like a puppet on strings and then having no one to empty your heart out to?

Can you imagine feeling lonely in a crowded room because you were too afraid of the consequences of your mistake and the fear of another person knowing?

Can you imagine crying alone, consumes by your pain and not having a helping hand?

We make mistakes and we do things we are not proud of but that does not mean we have to go through life alone.

There are some battles that need not be fought alone.
Sometimes, the silence can be more deafening than the ghosts of our pasts.

You do not have to suffer alone.

Sometimes, the biggest secrets you can only tell a stranger. - Michelle Hodkin
