Inbetween The Raindrops - Chapter 3
Chapter 3
"Huh." Maria snarled, her lips curving into half a smile as she removed her sunglasses to take a brief look at the girl who was once was her daughter.
"What..Are..You..Doing here?" Anaya chocked, locking away her tears in the pockets of her eyes.
"You can still afford to go to this university?" Maria laughed, rolling her eyes.
"What going on here?" Saif tried to intervene.
"Oh." Maria smiled, wickedly. "This is my daughter, darling."
"You never paid or took an interest in our education." Anaya shook her head. "Why would you think you leaving would make a difference?"
"Wow." Maria abrupt into laughter. "I thought it had something to do with your cowardly father killing himself..."
"Oh so you do know." Anaya cut her off.
"It was rather embarrassing, if you ask me." Maria replied, putting her sunglasses back on.
"No one asked you!" Anaya spat, her anger as clear as day.
"Your father..." Saif tried to intervene again, looking at Anaya then Maria. "Her father killed himself?"
"Don't bother." Maria sighed as she started the car. "Get in." She ordered.
"No." Saif stated.
"What?" An intimidated Maria questioned.
"I refuse to go anywhere with you." Saif replied, his face expressionless.
"Just wait until I tell your father." Maria threatened before speeding off.
Saif watched his step mother drive off and turned around to look at Anaya who had her eyed glued to the pavement as if that was the only way for her to stop her tears.
"Anaya?" He began.
"No." She whispered. "I'm sorry. I have to go."
