The Media Fest Blog Post

I initially wrote this for the Media Fest Blog but I really wanted to share this here because I'm particularly proud of this piece.

As I sit here behind my laptop screen contemplating what I can write in order to make myself appear to be a commendable writer, my thoughts can't help but shift to all the photographers and film makers that have probably spent the last few weeks with their heads in their hands trying to come up with an idea that can captivate this years audience and win over the judges.

Have you ever found yourself behind the lens of your camera trying to capture an idea that you swore was bouncing around in your head a few moments ago? Have you ever experienced that instance when you had something planned out but when you sat down to put pen to paper, it felt like your idea was now non-existent? If you havent then count your blessings but if you have then I can only say I feel your pain. It takes a lot to portray your art in a manner for the world to see but what's even harder is to allow it to be subjected to judgement. You see, whether it is writing scripts, taking photographs or acting out a part, selling your art is like selling a little piece of your soul. I've found that the art which speaks the loudest, captures the most hearts and provokes the most thoughts is the one that has little horcruxes hidden within it by the artist. It takes a lot to find tiny pieces of yourself, assemble them and then give them away and this weekend, various people will do just that. Whether its our photography participants who watch their pieces up on the big screen or our decor team who will witness their hard work be put up for show. Whether its our Film making participants who will be watching the expressions of the audience like hungry lions or whether its the host team members praying all goes well, this weekend is all about art and letting it be heard. This weekend is about screaming loud enough to move mountains without saying a word.

This weekend is about all the artists whether participants or not who will finally get their turn in the spot light. Whether you win or loose, this weekend your hard work will pay off. The many hours you spent behind your cameras, screens or curled up in a corner of your room will not go to waste. This weekend is to celebrate all that is you, to celebrate all that you can create. With all the talent amongst are midst, the people will finally know all that you are capable of. The people will know about the participants who put their blood and tears up for show and the people will be ready to witness the beauty presented by the host team and its hardworking DG's who will finally get to see their creation being enjoyed by all.

A few minutes ago, I couldnt find a single word to type up and now it seems Ive managed to type up enough to make someone think "Yaar ye kaab khatam houga" Well, to put you out of your misery, I will wrap this up and wish you all enjoy the immense beauty that awaits you but most of all, I hope you find meaning in all the art that will surround you.
